This gallery showcases the incredible natural scenery we have on our door step within the greater Eugene metro area. From the magnolia and rhododendron blossoms of Hendricks Park to the bicycle paths along the Willamette River’s cottonwood banks; you don’t have to leave town to experience the splendor of our regions natural environment.

Within bicycling distance or a short drive from Eugene’s downtown are several attractions which are prominently featured in this gallery. To the east of Eugene are the oak savannas and camas lily fields of the 2300 acre Mt.Pisgah arboretum and County Park. Immediately south of town and looming over the Eugene skyline, is the dark fir clad slopes of Spencer Butte; with its 2092 foot summit of exposed rock, incense cedar and the occasional rattle snake. To the west is the 12,000 acre Fern Ridge reservoir and National Wildlife Refuge, a lush environment supporting a diverse assortment of flora and fauna. Fern Ridge offers nature walks along Coyote Creek and the Long Tom River; as well as bird-watching, wildlife viewing, canoeing, and of course some fantastic photographic opportunities!

I hope you enjoy this body of work, it’s amongst my personal favorites. Maybe I’ll see you on the Mt. Pisgah summit trail, or out having a snack on Spencer Butte.
